Jewelry Chain Guide
Rolo Chain
Rolo Chain is one of the most popular styles of jewelry chain. This classic chain style is great for necklaces that hold pendants, charms, or other components. Rolo chain, sometimes referred to as Belcher chain, is made of symmetrical interlocking links. The links are typically round on the outside and flat on the inside. The links can be opened or closed, but are typically closed and soldered which gives this chain strength for hanging pendants or jewelry components.
We carry all sizes and finishes of Rolo chain, ranging from 1mm (tiny and dainty) to 11mm (large and chunky).
Cable Chain
Cable Chain is similar to Rolo chain, in that the links are symmetrical and interlocking. The main difference between these two are the link shape. Cable chain links are typically larger, longer and oval shaped. Some cable chains are round, while others are long and oval, but the links in the chain are always identical in shape.
Cable chain is one of the most popular chains to use in jewelry designs. Smaller, thinner cable chain is great for simple chain necklaces. Larger, thicker cable chain is great for statement necklaces and chain bracelets.
We carry a variety of sizes and colors of cable chain for your jewelry designs.
Curb Chain
Curb Chain is another popular style of jewelry chain. Curb chain is made of interlocking links that have been flattened and twisted. This design allows the chain to lay flat, making it popular for necklaces and chain bracelets.
Tiny curb chain is great for layering necklaces. Medium sized curb chain can be used for necklaces, bracelets, in keychain designs, and makes a beautiful extension chain for necklaces. Our chunky curb chain looks great as a statement necklace or bulky bracelet.
If you make men's jewelry and necklaces, curb chain is a great option to incorporate in your designs.
Figaro Chain
This Italian jewelry chain is made of multiple sized links, with 2-5 symmetrical links followed by 1 elongated oval link. Figaro chains originated in Italy. This style of chain is very popular for men's necklaces and can be worn by itself or with a pendant. Figaro chain is also great for women's necklaces and layering necklace sets.
Ball Chain
Ball Chain is made of round, hollow, sheet metal balls connected by short lengths of wire or chain. Popular for necklaces, dog tag necklaces, keychains, and other accessories like pull chains for lights and ceiling fans. Regular lobster clasps and jump rings will not work with this chain - You will need to use specific ball chain connector caps to finish and make a necklace.
We carry all sizes of Ball Chain from 1mm to 6.4mm.
Circle Chain
Circle jewelry chain features symmetrical circle links that interlock. Our wholesale circle chain is available in multiple sizes, ranging from tiny dainty 1mm to large multi circle statement chain.
The links on this chain are typically thinner and lighter than standard Rolo chain. Great for lightweight necklaces, making chain tassels, or to incorporate in multiple jewelry designs.
Filigree Chain
Filigree is a form of intricate metalwork used in jewelry that dates back to Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures. Filigree Chain is an artistic style of jewelry chain, with beautiful, delicate lace-like scroll designs within some of the links. The links with intricate designs are usually oval shaped, followed by plain chain links. This jewelry chain is great on it's own. Just add a lobster clasp and jump rings to make a stunning, simple necklace.
Beading Chain
Beading Chain is very thin and delicate. This chain is tiny enough to slide on beads, charms, and other jewelry components. Since beading chain does not have traditional links, most jump rings will not fit to finish a necklace. Instead, you can use a crimp closure or end cap to make a necklace.
